Fun in the Sun

The 24th of July ended up being a lot of fun. Kyle's mom invited us out to her property to ride their Rhino. Kevin came down for it too. Kyle's mom brought a picnic and then we rode around the mountain in the Rhino. It was so fun to ride around on that thing. It's like a dune buggy but way more tough. It was terrifying at times, but I can't wait to go out again.
Kyle was the communications officer and I was navigator...he did a much better job than I did. I got us very very lost...whoops!
Here's Kyle holding on for dear life. I thankfully had handles to hold on to and even a seatbelt if I wanted it. After we drove to the top of the mountain, where we found the most perfect camping spot, was this amazing view of Utah Lake and Utah Valley.
On an unrelated note, here's just an awesome picture of Jess and her purple hair while she was being such a doll and doing her job without complaining. She's been such a breeze to nanny, I've really appreciated her this summer. It's amazing how great she has grown up.
I'm hosting book club tonight and I have so much anxiety. I don't know if there will be enough food and/or enough chairs. I don't know if people liked the book..because I kind of didn't. I don't know if they'll stay forever or quickly excuse themselves out of my tiny apartment. I just don't any of this. One thing that has helped is that my 4:00 therapy appointment rescheduled. But instead of using the time to prepare I'm just blogging about the anxiety. I'm so productive, I know. But the tv is on and I have a hard time pulling myself away. I also hate trying to prepare food and time it so that it is warm when people will be eating it...which is another reason that I am stalling.
This is my first fish ever! Jerome, Kass, and Kyle waited very patiently for me to catch this beautiful fish, because believe me it did not come easy, as Kassie has thoroughly mentioned in her blog.
You see, first I got the nasty flourescent bait all over me. Then I cast it in over and over and over again, until I gave up and Kyle took over. But at the end Jerome was determined that I catch something, so they gave me both poles to double my chances. I got about a zillion bites, but they all got away every time that Kass picked up the camera to capture the moment. But after I gave up and was reeling in the pole (because I had broke the other line) there was a fish on the end!
Kyle did much better. This is a picture of what he caught first. I was very proud.
But then he caught a real fish!
This little boy kept bringing this nasty fish over that he caught. I don't know why his dad kept letting him play with the dead fish. He played with it for like a half hour. It was so gross, but he was so cute. Even though he came over like twenty million times. And asked if he could hold some of our fish. Wouldn't you want to?!
And it tasted good. Unfortunately, it is on my list of things I won't eat because the idea of it grosses me out. But Kyle and Jerome enjoyed it.
So, Kyle's new passion has been smutty novels, but Rainey's smutty novels were not enough for him (refer back to the Anniversary blog when Kyle was reading the following novel or to the picture below).
So Kyle has moved onto these trashy Conan novels. And yes, Rainey, he says they are far smuttier than any of your novels. Too smutty to detail here because of the young eyes who read this wonderful blog.
But in addition to the trashiness of Kyle's media--guess who has to check it out--Me! Because I basically have no life or job I at least can get stuff from the library for Kyle, but it's so embarrassing. And it's not just the one time when I'm checking out the materials (yes he got the movie and the 3 books in one hard back) that it's embarrassing, but it seems like every time I go in there they are saying, "You're Conan book and/or movie is due next". And I pretend like I'm not humiliated that they think those materials are for me...
